The Santa Clara County Superior Court was one of several pilot project counties which established complex litigation specialty courts under a grant from the Administrative Office of the Court in 1999. This web site was constructed to help manage qualifying complex litigation cases, to provide a remotely accessible source for information about all pending complex cases, and to permit parties to electronically file and serve papers in qualifying cases.
The court requires the parties to submit copies of all court-filed documents to this Internet library. Any party will have access to all filed documents in particular cases by logging onto the web site and engaging the search function. The public will have the same access to all documents which would be available in a paper file at the courthouse.
Currently, when a party submits documents referencing out-of-state legal authorities, the party is required to attach photocopies of the statutes or decisions cited. The court intends to develop a system so that submitted documents will contain hyperlinks to citations to statutes and cases, thereby eliminating the need for attachments.
The court invites comments from users and interested observers to help make both the web site and the complex litigation court more effective.
